# Knowledge base for your WhatsApp AI agent in Kommo

**A knowledge base gives your Waply AI agent your business information so it can answer on WhatsApp inside Kommo.** You add documents, text or pages from your website, and on every reply the agent retrieves only the fragments relevant to the question. It works with the text agent and the voice agent. Waply AI is Waply's own and does not depend on Kommo AI.

This guide is for teams on Kommo who want their WhatsApp AI agent to answer with their own information: catalogs, prices, FAQs, policies or the content of their website. It explains what a knowledge base is, which sources Waply accepts, how it stays up to date and how to prepare content for good answers.

## What a knowledge base is and what it is for

A knowledge base is the set of sources with your business information that the AI agent uses to answer. Instead of relying only on its instructions, the agent can reply with your data: opening hours, shipping terms, published prices, return policies or FAQs.

The agent does not read the whole knowledge base on every reply: it retrieves only the fragments relevant to the customer's question and answers from them.

Waply AI agents are built by Waply and do not depend on Kommo AI or use its credits. In Kommo, sources are managed from Waply AI > Knowledge bases with Add source. You can group sources into reusable collections with New collection and choose which knowledge each agent uses from its Knowledge bases tab.

## What you can add to the knowledge base

- Documents: PDF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, EPUB, PPT, PPTX, XLS, XLSX, ODS, ODP or CSV, up to 8 MB each.
- Text: plain text or Markdown pasted directly.
- Website: a URL with one page only, or the page and its subpages on the same site, up to 20 pages.

That way you can add, for example, a PDF catalog, an FAQ spreadsheet, your policies pasted as text or the help section of your website.

## How it stays up to date

- Websites: can refresh automatically every 6, 12 or 24 hours or weekly. You can also pause refreshing or refresh them manually.
- Documents and text: updated manually by replacing their content.

When a price or policy changes, update the matching source so the agent does not answer with outdated information.

## Works with the text agent and the voice agent

The same knowledge base serves the text AI agents that answer WhatsApp chats and the Voice AI agents that answer WhatsApp calls. You prepare the content once and use it on both channels.

## Best practices for preparing content

- Use clear, current sources: remove old versions of prices or policies.
- One source per topic: avoid two documents saying different things about the same subject.
- Test with real customer questions in Preview before the agent answers live chats.

## Use your own AI provider

Every Waply AI plan lets you use your own provider or API key. Once a provider is connected, Waply stops deducting credits and your provider bills the usage.
